We are Clare & Nick Butcher.

In early 2020 we decided we were ready for a new challenge and a whole life change, so put our Wiltshire farmhouse home up for sale.

We moved to France in early October 2020 to beat the Brexit deadline. 

Having had a couple of false starts with selling our home, we did not want to tempt fate by looking too actively for a French property until we had actually completed the sale in the UK. Covid restrictions meant travelling was not permitted, so searching was restricted to online browsing.

In February 2021 Clare returned to the UK to tie up some odds and ends prior to the sale completion. Whilst quarantining in their empty Wiltshire farmhouse she stumbled on an advert on a Facebook group called 'The Escape to the Chateau Fanclub' for a house in South West France. 

She showed the advert to Nick and as curiosity got the better of him, he took a drive and managed to find the house.  He liked what he saw from the outside, so he arranged a viewing. It was the right style, right area, and due to its condition it was the right price.

Clare said, "If you think I will like it, then put an offer in and lets buy it, these don't come up for sale every day... I trust your judgement!"

The offer was duly placed and accepted and we finally got the keys on Thursday 10th June!
